Working for the right angle are angling journalists who write regularly for the premier magazines, giving us a tremendous insight into the trends and needs of the travelling angler. We also know and have contact with all the top angling writers and Editors.
This proved invaluable when editing and producing thefishingwalesbrochure. As well as providing copy we commissioned articles from writers we knew could attract anglers. Taking the conscious decision to move away from the run-of-the-mill brochure and produce a magazine style brochure, was a great success and an example of our creative and imaginative marketing.
Results from research carried out to measure the effectiveness of thefishingwalesmarketing campaigns show that those requesting a brochure took a total of 58,687 fishing trips to Wales worth £69 million to the Welsh economy in 2004-2005, £27.3 million of this was directly attributable to the campaign activity itself.
The research was carried out on only 30,000 of the brochures distributed, so bearing in mind that over 100,000 brochures have been distributed together with thefishingwaleswebsite, which regulary attracts 30,000 visitors per month, then the true figure is much higher.
Carwyn Jones, Minister for Countryside, Environment and Planning said “It is very rewarding to see the huge returns on our investment after a relatively short period of time. The news is particularly good for rural communities where most angling visitors spend their money.”
